It has been a while since I've shot stills alongside a TVC production.
I love being on a shoot where someone else has to worry about the weather, the lighting, the animal talent that's not living up to expectations... catering on shoots is good for creative talent too!
I don't mind the particular challenge that this kind of shoot brings either; as much as the client or agency want to get stills of an expensive set up (in this case a house wrapped in cellophane for a Monier roof tiles ad), time pressures on the day invariably relegate the "stills guy" to a low position on the priority ladder. I make it my business to find out who really needs the stills and who is best able to deliver me the opportunities I need to get them.
With around 30 people on set it means being as assertive as possible without pissing anybody off. We parted on good terms today :-)
This pano shot on the iPhone, stitched in Autostitch and tidied up in PS mobile and Tiffen FX.
